Nuclear Fictions explores the interstitial moments that fuse together a new family, loosely based on my personal experience becoming a mother. Using staged photography of domestic scenes, the project focuses on the transformative period of early motherhood when roles evolve rapidly by necessity. The young mother is simultaneously intertwined and separate from her family in the theatre of the home, and the presence of the child in the world alters her understanding of the world itself.
